Choosing a New Home
When Maya started her first full-time job, she moved from a small town to Manchester. At first, she rented a furnished studio flat near the city centre because she wanted a short journey to work. The rent was high, but water and heating were included in the monthly payment. After six months, Maya moved to a larger flat in a quieter neighbourhood. It was further from the centre, yet it had better insulation, a small balcony and a reliable bus connection. Before signing the new contract, she checked the postcode, asked the landlord about household repairs and found out exactly which services were included in the rent. This helped her avoid unexpected costs.
Why did Maya first choose a studio flat near the city centre?
Which services were included in the rent of her first flat?
What made the second flat more comfortable despite being further from the centre?
